A Conversation with 6abc anchor Nydia Han: Lessons learned about identity and anti-Asian hate through the lens of television news

The James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies, in collaboration with the Philip Jaisohn Memorial Foundation are excited to welcome 6abc's Consumer Investigative Reporter and co-anchor of Action News Sunday mornings, Nydia Han, to the University of Pennsylvania on February 28, 2024.

As a longtime Emmy award-winning journalist, Nydia has made a living telling other people’s stories. But in this conversation, she will open up about the personal lessons she’s learned about racism and identity.  She will also share her reporting about anti-Asian hate, the history of discrimination and prejudice against Asian Americans, and the incredible work being done by AAPIs in Philadelphia and across the country to combat hate and change the Asian American narrative. Nydia will also discuss what she learned through her viral #ThisIsAmerica video that became the springboard for her documentary under the same name.
