Harold J. Bershady, emeritus professor of Sociology at Penn, has just published a new book, When Marx Mattered: An Intellectual Oddysey. There are several chapters describing and discussing Penn and the Sociology department in the last four decades of the 20th century. One of Professor Bershady's earlier books, Ideology and Social Knowledge, has also just been reissued with a new introduction by Bershady. Both books are brought out by Transaction Publishers and will be on display at the national meetings of the American Sociological Association this August in San Francisco.
