Title: Descendants of Families that were Separated During the Transatlantic Slave Trade are Identifying One Another Through Genetic Genealogy
Jan 20, 2023 at -

LaKisha David, Ph.D., studies the biological and social aspects of genetic genealogy. Her research primarily examines family and ethnic identity development among African American adults who have identified living African relatives using autosomal genetic genealogy. She also explores genetic family tree inference linking African and African American pairs having fourth to eighth-cousin genetic relatedness. Currently, she is an Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications (ELSI) postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine. She received her Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Master of City Planning, specializing in international development, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
